Default running over (deiseling)

hey guys I need a little help, I have a 4.8 with a 625 cfm street demon and the edelbrock msd box with the chips.i also put the gm hot cam in her this winter, the msd box does not hook to the lap top anyways she runs great starts up cold, hot right away no problems but every so often she diesels a little bit when I shut her down. now if it had a distributor I would back off a little on the timing, so what do I do now

You can increase octane, but pulling timing is a thing that you should be able to do with a lap top. You need to figure it out. It would run better with a custom tune anyway.

What do you mean the MSD box does not hook to the laptop?

I thought the entire line of MSD 6ls boxes hooked to the laptop for timing setting?

He probably:

A: doesn't have a USB to serial adapter

B: has a newer version of running software that doesn't recognize the input

I have this exact same cable for mine and it works perfectly.

plug it in while you are connected to the internet and wait for a minute or two and windows will get it installed for you. Then get the software from the website for the MSD box.

http://www.msdignition.com/exe/setup_prodata319.exe

install the software, connect the laptop and box together, THEN start the software.
The rest is pretty much point and click. If you are NOT running a map sensor, then you will want to zero out the MAP table.

I do believe the box that comes with the edelbrock kit will only take the pills. it is not programmable with a laptop

+1

The edlebrock version deleted the serial port.

More octane is a sure fix. Timing like you said. Worse case turn the car off in gear or floor the pedal to get it to stop.

You can try leaning out the idle mixture. sometimes that helps. Colder thermostat too.

What is your idle set at? Perhaps it is just too high. You could also fatten up the idle circuit.

Jesus, there would be some folks in serious trouble if my car was 2200 lbs.

Id like to see you in his car. "MGB" From seeing the size of you in your S10 video, it would be a tight squeeze at best. Lol.
