Aren't you going to have to clearance the floor for a one piece driveshaft? I'm almost certain that you do on a second gen S10 but don't know about 1st gen.

Yup, sure do. It is really the reason for a 2 piece from the factory is what they say.

Unhappy

Here is the brand new one piece drive shaft I had built today. Took 10 minutes to install:

So, I'm broke now, 277$, and I don't know what to do, because clearly this 4.8 liter makes more power than the dyno is showing. Right?

Daaaaamn. Thats a shitty day. Get one out of a diesel truck and have it cut down. Just a thought but it probably too big of a diameter. The one on my truck looks like 5"

I'd take that back tomorrow and ask what the f happened. find a 2 piece steel shaft from a Silverado and make it work. or even a 1 piece steel shaft from a RCSB Silverado if it is long enough. those hollow aluminum shafts are crap.

How long is that shaft C-C ? That may be the issue. Long driveshafts need to be big OD.

It is 66 1/2 long.

Starting to wonder if the goofy off set 8.8 is the problem.

Which is why i narrowed my 8.8. i just wasnt sure about running the pinion offset to the transmission. tons of people do it though.

That's what I thought, but have yet to see who runs them offset with a v8.

The drive shaft shop is eating the labor and I'm paying for a new drive shaft tube, so it will get it back to be able to figure out what's going on.

Tell them you want better tubing than the last shiat and want the lifetime warranty stuff.

Did it hit something because if you dent it, it will make it easier to twist.

Did you install the 8.8 with the stock pinion angle on the stock 8.8 perches? This will put the pinion angle way up excessively from what I have saw. This isn't so bad in blazers short beds and 4x4's but on a long wheelbase like you have...

Do you have traction bars that keep it from going further. Not trying to offend but also have someone check the driveshaft clearance after you and a buddy get in it. I think it bumped something then twisted.

Had my brother jump up and down on the rear bumper to see what kind of room there was. Looked good. I didn't change the perches on the rear end, going to be checking all that stuff.

I was at a 1.8 60' (not good but not horrible) with a offset pinion. No issues here. I also re did my pinion angle to 2* lower than the trans with a 4* driveshaft angle.

How did you adjust your pinion? What was the actual pinion angle and what is it now?

You running the goofy offset makes me sure I have a issue somewhere, because your making a lot more power.

I actually made a set of caltracs for the bottom and a set of torque arms/4 link bars to set the pinion angle and hold it steadier I guess. With these bars I can tip the rear end forward and back quite a few degrees and it also allowed me to figure out and eliminate my vibration I had at 60 mph.

This could also be the issue for my poor 60' response tho as ive heard a 4 link setup with leaf springs wont hit the tires hard? Thats basically what I have created. I think a 100 shot will make it move out of the hole tho.

Your stick will stress the ds way more than my th400 im sure too.

Here are a few pics. I was just tryin to have a way to set and hold my pinion angle/position under load, im not sure this is the right answer tho. We will see how it reacts on the spray I guess
