I went with the truck set-up also....cheaper
Anywho, I cut it just below the 3 mounting bolts and fabed a small bracket (can also dremel lip out of the way) and use your stock alternator

Im not 100% sure what your asking. If you have a LQ4 block and a truck water pump just get a stock bracket. I use the old style 88-95 Full size truck style alternator and just bolt them in the same place. Easy as pie.

Does your vehicle see only track time tho? If the alterntor is mounted low that may cause me some problems because its a streeter. The bracket ive had my eye on is this here. http://www.ebay.com/itm/180981098379?redirect=mobile

But im not sure if its needed. Im nearing the end of my parts roundup puzzle and cant decide on this part.

You should be able to use the truck bracket with a carb. Its ridiculously heavy though, and the low mount isn't necessarily desirable.

I sell these:

alternator bracket

It adapts the LS1 alternator bracket for use with truck accessories. If you already have an LS1 alt bracket, I sell the adapter and hardware separately.
