Default msd 6ls timing problem/question

Tried turning the timing up on my car from 32 total to 34 and it backfires leaving the starting line tried it all in at 2000 and 2500 no change and put it back to 32 no problem. Didn't have time to try and go other direction. Any ideas why it would do this? Bad sensor maybe? Idk

Never had that problem.you sure all your grounds are good and you have a good 12 volt source? Mine loves lots more timing than that.

Stock bottom end lq4 l92 heads milled tick custom ground cam victor jr. Intake and 950 hp with a power valve in the front with 76 84 jets like I said runs great with 32 no problems and 25 at idle and 32 all in at 2000 . Tried same thing with 34 idles and revs fine just back fires when you launch it fuel system is all magna fuel if that matters at all with 7 psi at carb I believe

how much stahl speed?
I like having my timing ALL IN either at idle or just off idle when a bigger cam is used. I'm guessing by the milled heads, that you put in at least a 230-240 cam?
are you running a MAP sensor?
can you take a screen shot of your MSD tuneup? try to get all the settings in the shot if you can

Converter is way tight only 3600 needs 5500 which is in the works but cam is .626 .597 237 255 on 107+4 no map sensor and will try to get screen pic tomarrow

way tight converter is probably the cause, that is a BIG cam, it is NOT going to be happy below 4000 at all.

Ya I just don't understand why have a tight converter and adding 2 degrees of timing would make it backfire tho?

that big cam with 107 LSA has ALOT of overlap, if you load it down too low of rpm bad things happen. not exactly technical answer I know, but its true.

Finally got back to the track after talking to msd wasn't the box but I was thinking it was just lean. So jetted carb up 2 in front and rear problem solved. Ended up liking 36 total. Went from a 6.93 to 6.88 with at the track with just changing the Jets and timing.
