Default ordering new E85 carb

well, I borrowed one and had different reviews on it from different carb builders, so i called Mark Sullens and talked to him. My 950 ultra is now for sale and ordering a new carb from him built for my combo. he said i might not gain more than a tenth ET, but I am looking for consistency, so if it gains a tenth, great. At least it will be new and I will have the support of a reputable dealer and he is semi local to me too. I kinda like the way this corn smells.

I didn't like mine at first, it seemed just to big for my motor. after a few calls to pro systems I got it better at idol where it was way to rich. at the last test and tune finally did pick up on et 1 hundredth but still had a little stumble when left. the problem I had,,hard to get it to 160 deg to work good,,, im like you the smell is great...

I traded for this one, if I didn't,, I would have went with mark on one,, seems like what I hear his service is great...

Eric at horsepower innovations was awesome for me. Always helpful and quick to reply seeing long way away. Reasonably cheap considering as well

The carb i borrowed was built by eric.....then ran slower than gas, so redid by ken jones. Still kinda funky, so i am having mark build new.

Will be very surprised if the car doesn't go backwards on E85

everyone I have talked to that made the switch personally has picked up about a tenth and ran much more consistent. Unless the carb was off that is. I havent really seen a case yet where if the carb was right, they slowed down.....maybe gained none, but didnt fall off.

Right, you never mentioned that in the post I replied. Most that would pick up quite possibly are running minimum 11:1 static. What gas carb were you running again?

For the record the carb was faster on truck with 434 stroker over gas. Not on my engine. Im going till my heads another 030 for a total of .050.

Yes the venturi is way too big, so most likely not an ideal carb for the combo either.

Best of luck with it anyway.

750 HP main body would probably be more suited, but re-tuning would be a necessity no doubt.

I have a reg 800dp carb this is an old style carb not hp or other performance body... I have it jetted way up where I cant go any further,, just not enough air..prob 725 or 750 cfm... ok this is whats odd I can run 110 fuel and it wont idol its to much fuel. I run 93 pump gas and it works great... I think I could get an something that's got 800 to 850 cfm and would work better,, that's what I think is holding my car back from faster et's...

now my e85 carb is a 950 hp but flowed 926 cfm I had to jet it way down and its got where It did run that 1 hundredth faster, I was making progress now till I run out of test and tunes.

Works the opposite to how I think you are understanding the theory. Too much jet required is usually too bigger carb for the combo. But those older carbs could have some other emulsion/metering issues etc.

As for the 950 Ultra HP carb it has a 1.62" venturi which is way too big, and really with a 1.75" throttle bore I would consider the carb a pig for almost any application.
