Default wiring harnesses

Swapping 347 5.3 into a third gen camaro, plan on buying the eldebrock performer LS kit with controller box. Are there and parts of the factory 5.3 harness that ill need to hang onto (coil harnesses-etc)?

You will need the coil harness's and that's it. Everything else comes with the box.

If I were you. I would not use the Edelbrock box due to the fact that you can only adjust the timing with their preset pills that plug in. Unless something has changed. Just get the intake and then get a MSD box. That motor should have the cam position sensor in the rear. If it does, you will need the 6010 box, and only need the coil harness. If the cam sensor is in the front on the timing cover, you will need the 6012 box and you will need the jumper cable that plugs into the cam sensor, and then plugs into the harness as well as the coil harnesses. Good luck on your project!!!!

Yes cam sensor is in rear (gen3 block) so I would need the 6010.but Does that only come with the box? My concern is that im selling my stock 5.3 harness for an easy $100, and only saving the coil harnesses. So would I have to make my own harness for the cam, crank and map sensors? I was reading about the edelbrock kit, it says the box is made by msd. Yhanks for your helpful imput

the msd 6010 comes with its own harness, no need to make one. so you can sell your factory harness and be fine. msd does make the box but the edelbrock model eliminates the the custom tuning. just buy the msd and the intake separately. thats how i did it, ive had no issues at all.

Same as what BTLD GT and Horsepwraddict said. All you will need is the 2 coil harnesses. The MSD harness that you will get with the 6010 will hook right to everything else. Just make sure you have a very good ground. And don't hook the power to your existing harness unless your positive it has 12+ volts. Better to run a dedicated power and ground. Ground needs to go to one of the heads and a jumper wire from that point over to the other head Directly from the battery per MSD. And yes we know both boxes are made by MSD but they are not the same in the way of tuning. You can tune the MSD with a laptop as well as the pills. Most use a laptop. I believe they are the same price too. Even if they are not. Do yourself a favor and get the 6010.
