PCV problem or something else?
PCV problem or something else? So i noticed with the setup that I had on my carb'd LM7 that I was getting a thick milky yellow substance that would accumulate on the dip stick and at the bottom of the oil filler cap and neck. For my PCV setup, I had a PCV valve on the driver side valve cover ran to the bottom of the air breather. The passenger side valve cover had a rubber hose and filter attached to the nipple that protrudes off of the cover and then vented to atmosphere.
I noticed this same milky yellow substance accumulate on the old 5.7 SBC that was in the truck after I removed the PCV system and just installed a breather to the valve cover.
Is that what is causing this stuff and if so, how should I avoid it with this new LS1 I am about to put in?

Had a friend that had the same problem . He did not have proper venting . If you only have it attached to the breather that is not enough vacuum to pull thru the crank case . Drill the intake if you don't have no where to put it to . It needs to be attached directly to the intake vacuum with a pcv valve in line if you don't have one . Do this and you problem will be solved .
There is no cross flow the way you have it . Every time you crank the engine ,the inside will condense moisture with no where for it to go .

LS motors require about 4 inches of vacuum. Dont use a breather, use a factory cap on the passenger side and it would prolly help to have a catch can in between the Intake and PVC valve... I have just been through all this on my 99 SS... Trust me, you dont want to use breathers!..
Thanks, I am just going to order a LS6 Valley Cover from Brian Tooley. He has them for $88 with a gasket right now, that should solve the problem along with a catch can. Thanks for the input.
