thanks for replying Doug, reason I'm asking is because I cut 2" from my oil pan for ground clearance, now I can only get 4 quarts of oil in it with out oil blowing up through my top pan gasket, but only on the passenger side? so I wasn't sure if I had the pvc system ran wrong. now I have a oil filter relocation kit so I can get some extra oil volume.

Mine when new first pass at the track (first time I ran her that hard with new motor) I blew oil out the dipstick tube all over motor and under tires Not fun.

I now have a breather where the oil fill cap is and the 2 hoses from the valve covers to the oil/air separator with a breather....no line back to the intake.
Been good so far.

But, if you're pushing oil, I would have to ask how much/how bad, what oil weight, and what oil pump.

Can you check your returns on that side for blockage ?

Its a new engine and you just spent a pile of money putting it together. IMO get the right oil pan and run at least 5 1/2 quarts of oil. I would never risk it running that little of a amount of oil.

Not to pick nits, but PVC is a plastic commonly used in plumbing pipes. PCV stands for "positive crankcase ventilation" system.

yea I know I should have gotten the right pan, but I was on a really small budget, I do run 5 quarts of oil but every time I get hard on the gas I blows oil out, I have only run 4 quarts once and it was fine, but I didn't keep it that way! and I know what PVC stands for, but I'm asking just to make sure I have my hoses ran right, thanks for the input guys

I have a ls2 w/ ls3 top end that the pcv is run just like you have it . I have breathers on both valve covers and a ls6 valley cover . I do not run a catch can at all . I have no oil loss or nun that I can detect . I run it pretty hard to 7000 . I have about 2000 relatively hard miles on the street with good success with the set up like yours .

I am running the autocraft pan .

The valley cover just goes to the intake just like the old days . I drilled and added a fitting in the intake just below the carb in the rear . The filter can just be added directly to the valve covers . The filters are for air in only . What you are trying to get is air flow in at filter thru the head down to the crank case up into the valley and out of the valley cover . What this does is take air out out of the valley where there is a lot less oil flying around . The heads have a lot of suspended oil to suck out to the intake if pulling out of the valve cover .

I think once you get it hooked up like this you will find that will no longer be a issue .
