Default Two many choices opinions welcomed!

Ok so here is the problem i am faced with I have two basket case engines first up a 1998 Ls1 next a 2000 Lq4 now the LS1 I just go trade for a sbc 400 the lq4 I already have a set of full floating rods and ls2 pistons for plus milled ls3 heads either way I am building a carb LS for a 1973 el camino already had an efi 6.0 in it liked it but time to go a little more ballsy probabyl going blow through fi with a full manual 4l80 not going to be a daily or a dedicated strip car as I am currently working on moving back to Houston I want to build a nice little piece plan procharged intercooled reason I want the carb is the added cooling effect it gives to the intake charge so I can run a little more static compression for off boost throttle response? So guys give me your thoughts which way would you go and why!

I would trade the question mark with the exclamation point.
