Great build man! Planning something very similar with my new project 72 Vega. Going to be a Craiglist hotrod for sure.

Quick Update. Car now drives under its own power! Carb is really rich still and will need to change the jets. Only issue there is when I had it apart the jets were stuck in the blocks. Going to have to get creative or take them to a machine shop.

Any ideas? The grove were you stick the flat head is starting to chip away.

So I discovered what an idle eze screw is on a Demon. I believe this was the source of my richness.. 3.5 turns out vs the factory 1.5

what jets did you end up going with, my 5.3 I just built and fired, the plugs look the same as yours. just a film of soot on them. motor idles great, I have a 750 preform carb and started out with 75/76 jets no power valves. (drag car only).
doing a track rental on Mar 3rd, hopefully I can get the plugs to clean up.

Jetting has no effect at idle...You'll need to look at you idle air bleeds (IAB), your transfer slot (not open too far), Power Valve size (you're not using), Idle feed restrictors (IFR), and no air/fuel leaks.
An AFR meter will be a great help to see what your changes are doing Vs. constantly looking at plugs

Doug is correct. Before I went to far I would check your timing and see what you have it set to. Are you running the 6014?

If you are like me, I was using the truck and ho truck timing markers on the box. They are extremely conservative and probably more geared for FI. Not sure why they would put them on this box.

This is my current timing setup.

This is stock Truck...

Also more food for thought. I have no MAP sensor attached and it was reading at 105KPa. If you are not running one like me, I would consider making your timing curve across the board.

I will keep you posted tomorrow. I think I have it nailed now.

Kill Switch Location. Yes I know, will not pass track inspection. It will eventually be put behind the license plate but I was tired of disconnecting the battery.

Glad you're keeping the car. If you don't mind me asking, what made you make the switch to efi?
