Default crank sensor reliabilty

Can't begin to count the number of threads where guys replace crank sensors hoping it fixes a problem.

How reliable are crank sensors? I don't mean just LS motors but FI cars in general. My brother is having an issue on my mom's car and he wants to Easter egg in a crank sensor.

Seems to me they should be pretty reliable. Any professional mechanics want to weigh in how often they see crank sensors go bad?

I worked in a Mercedes dealer for 4 years and I probably averaged replacing 1 a day. Even in low mileage cars. Although, some brands have their quirks. That was one of them for Benz.

Default Allegro Hall Sensor

The Hall sensor Element is made by Allegro, look up the Data Sheet.

I bought the entire GM Parts inventory when my 60-2 TW was fitted to the 2006 engine line, about 76 pieces.
These I have for my own use, NEVER had a failure.

The most common report is one of connector/wiring issues.

I've been a tech for GM for nearly 14 years, I've only replaced two crank sensors. And I have only changed connectors due to rodent damage.

Thanks guys

My brother ended up having a shop change the crank position sensor.

Didn't fix it

Now they are guessing the engine computer...
