No joke.
Can get used set ups for next to nothing, lots of user support and can get parts and service anywhere in the country. Only real downside is learning HPtuners, but given the nature of the question you are asking you will just need to pay for a single tune.
If you are starting with a blank long block and want all new stuff than some of the aftermarket stuff starts to make sense. Most of it is very expensive. The Fitech stuff looks reasonable and has gotten good reviews for being easy to install and use.
