Default Temperature variance

I have an LS376/515 with a Holley Terminator EFI system. The temperature reading from the ECU, which is connected to the factory sending unit on the drivers side cylinder head, is 10-15 degrees hotter than an electric Autometer temp gauge I connected to rear of the passenger side head. Is this typical? I figure the factory sender is closest to the point at which the coolant enters the radiator and is therefore hotter than the rear of the passenger side head. Is this logical or is more likely the gauge is inaccurate?

Water flows out the front of the engine so yeah, driver's side should be hotter.

Default Temp Sensor Location

Hi Rag, YES you have the correct read, NORMAL.

The best way to understand this is the report of water temperature as it LEAVES the radiator from the Autometer Gauge.
We use Dual Gauges OFTEN in racing cars.
You do NOT want the crankcase to be too cool as it will wear out the rings.
