Not sure on the amps the stockers pull....but I went with this controller for my aftermarket fans due to another members recommendation....working great.

Found this on another site, he was referring to ls1 fans I believe. Not sure on the draw for fans from an LT1 car. "These fans run together draw 57 amps for a split second on start-up, then continuously draw 13.6 amps while running at 100%"

GM uses a 40 amp "maxi fuse" for each fan. Circuit breakers are good alternative. Standard ATO/ATC fuses have no use in circuits that carry more than 15-20 amps continuously.
It's a lot easier on the electrical system to start one fan at a time at full power OR start both fans at half power (low speed) then switch to full power (high speed)
