Breaking up around 5k

I have a 6.0 carbureted with a black msd box, 6.5 psi fuel pressure, good solid grounds and power connections charging at 14 volts new red top optimum battery runs perfect to 5k rpm then it feels like it on the chip, any suggestions? Limiter is set at 7k

You most likely have one of the coil harnesses flipped over backwards.

Check the harnesses that plug directly into the coils. They both have the same color wires in them. On the passenger side the plug with the purple wire goes to number 2 then laid out so the plug with the red wire is at number 8.
On the drivers side the harness is flipped and the plug with the red wire goes to number one and laid out with the purple at number 7.
It happens all the time. Motor sounds and runs fine till higher rpm then starts to break up. If they are both flipped the wrong way the motor will pop and bang not running for ****.
