No lt1 here but I know the feeling. The 355 i put together ran real strong at first no leaks nothing but fun, for about a week. Then I noticed little puddles of oil on the driveway( BTW leaks of ANY kind are my pet peeve, cant stand them). Long story short I will never use cork gaskets or cheap chrome valve covers again!

Yeah my car I had for 3 weeks it had 51k miles on it then and the rear end went out, then like 2 months later the trans went, I have since replaced the trans with a built one and a 3k stall converter, the rear end is giving me some problems again but I knew that it would after doing 7 consecutive passes with MT ET streets and launching at 2k rpms.

The fun of this is getting everything right again, I know the stock 10 bolt sucks so i can take responsibility for tearing it to shreds.

How many miles are on your car? have you rebuilt the engine? things to look at are just over all condition and whether or not the previous owners treated as well or did they treat it worse than you, if they treated it worse, then it is like dating a woman who just got out of a relationship with a guy who beat her, any time you go to get on her she will flinch and freak out.

Most everyone with a built car can relate.

Your not the only one, my car has 63K and its nickle-and-diming me to death.

In the last 13K miles the following has broken on my car
Rear end
Clutch hydraulics died
Alternator
Starter
Window motor
Water pump
Blower motor
That's all I can think of for now besides all the little things

My most recent setback came from doing a spring/shock change. My front upper shock mounts are so rusted(Wisconsin car BTW) that half the metal is gone and there was hardly any nut left. Everything is fused together and short of cutting the shock in half I'm not not going to be able to rob any of the parts I need from them. I should have a set of used rust free SoCal shock assemblies here shortly though to rob parts off of. Until then the car gets to hang out in the garage up on jack stands.

I wonder what will break next?

I bought my '95 Z28 M6 around 3.5 years ago with 70k miles on it. I was the third owner. It now has 92k. In that time period the only problem it truly has had was the opti-spark going out. Otherwise I have broken the rearend three times; too many 2nd gear powershifts broke it the first time, a 5k launch on DRs with fresh 4.10s on a well prepped track broke it a second time and too many 2nd gear powershifts broke the last rebuilt stocker with 4.10s. It now has 3.73s and she feels neutered Otherwise no problems, well except power window motors.

I have two friends with LT1 fbodies. One has a '96 Z28 M6 with 175k miles. Still runs great (beat a brand new '07 automatic Mustang GT). Only trouble he has had is one clutch (his fault, mostly) one opti-spark and 3 starters back to back to back, but that was his fault again.

My other buddy has a '95 Z28 A4 with 145k miles. His only troubles have been a bad opti (hmm, pattern here?) and a broke tranny (his fault for shifting it like a manual all the damn time).

LOL, do you think it's about time to invest in a stronger rearend?
