my 89 was tbi and it was stock except for one of those jet chips and shortie headers with ory and straight pipe and i ran consistent 9.9s. the motor actually came outta an astro van and the computer was from a 95 caprice.

bone stock with need of good fuel and a tune up and it runs 9.40 @ 78mph so far.

Well, back in the day:

I raced my '88 IROC-Z( bone stock) 305 TPI M/5 vs my buddies '87 IROC-Z 350 TPI A/4 ( another bone stocker)

The weather was in the low 90's . He nosed me out by running a 9.72 @ 72.5 mph
to my 9.78 @ 74.5 mph.

I figure the 5 speed let me spin a little more and resulted in a little higher mph. Close race and I still have that IROC-Z sitting in the garage today.
