Default Power window problem--motor or something else?

The driver side power window on my 99 Z28 goes down fine but when going up it moves very jerkily and makes fairly loud clicking sounds. Does this sound like the typical window motor problem or is this something else, like the regulator?

It sounds like maybe one or more of the teeth are broken. It's not hard to pull the door panel off, might as well do it and check it out. Let us know what you find.

Found it. At some point a previous owner had replaced the window motor and the screws securing it to the door backed off to the point that the gears weren't aligned anymore. Loctite and a few screwdrivers and it's good again.

Better place to ask this would have been general repair & maintenance, but it seems you have your answer.
