Keep the LS1, you will miss the power band of the ls series motor

yea but keep in mind, my LS1 has 191,000 miles, and has a piston rattle or pushrod tick or something of that sort when i crank it up in the mornings, but i heard that was common for a LS1

keep the LS1...if its not your daily driver then go forged bottom end h/c/i/ once you freshen up the engine there will be no mileage on it..and honestly do you WANT the hastle of the goddam opticrap?

Definitely keep the LS1, $1500 really isn't much money, and the LS motors are a much better/faster motor in every aspect... My LS1 has the knock/tap when it's cold, it's very common, my 00 Tahoe did it too, but it doesn't mean the motor's coming apart... The LT1 may have some work done to it, but I bet it's still slower than the LS1...

I had a 97 Z28, my dad has a 2002 SS. I would say the LS1 engine is better! And not to mention NO OPTI !!! Keep the LS1 car.

I would keep the Ls1 and just put your tax money into it. Newer car has better resale value also..

Trust me, Keep the LS1. I had a 98 LS1 rebuilt for 1400 with new pistons, ARP rod bolts and that included all machine work and parts. That was just for the shortblock of course, But since you have the engine already, It would not cost much to rebuild. Or you can buy a new LSx engine from a sponsor or a dealer on here for $2500-$3500 (LS1/LS6) I know Shwanke Engines are very cheap on their in stock longblocks.

Good Luck with your decision but IMO, I'd keep the LS1 Z.
LT1's are tedious lil Basterds. lol (Major PITA!)

How about you buy the LT1 with your tax refund?.

You'll have two killer cars.
