Diagnostics of a brake problem...
I have a 98 Z28 w/ LS1 and last summer I started getting an intermittent problem with my anti-lock brakes. Everyone once in a while the dashboard would light up with ABS, TBS and BRAKE lights and my traction control would quit and ABS would stop working. No typically this would not be a problem but I am tired of seeing the lights.
Over the winter I have noticed a pattern here so maybe someone can shed some light on the situation…
The problem seems to be temperature related. When it’s cold, and it’s been cold in CO, the light does not appear and everything works as designed. As the temperature increases the frequency of the lights increases. We are now getting warmer so I see them more often. Or after long drives in cold temps I would see them, say 20-30 miles.
Anyone have any ideas where to look? Are there ABS codes I could read somewhere? Could it be a faulty wheel/abs sensor? I buried the right side in a pot-hole a few years back and bent both wheels, CO roads are in excellent condition, so maybe I am seeing an affect of that incident.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated…
Thanks
