How Rare Is This Car??
I was car shopping online to find a new fbody and came across this beautiful car that I really want to purchase now. It's a 1999 Camaro v6 auto, hardtop with Bright Blue Metallic paint. Now from a little researching I found that only 1,117 Bright Blue Metallic Camaros were made in 1999, but no other breakdowns after that. I'm just really curious to see how rare this car is, being a v6 and a hardtop. Any help is appreciated.

If you like the car, go ahead and get it. They're getting old enough that it's unlikely you'll see another one in that color in your area any time soon. This was the '99 Bright Blue V6 Camaro I stupidly turned down that my mom offered to buy me in 2002 when I was in high school:
Your inaccurate color names are really starting to infuriate me. You're going to have to start being accurate if you are going to matter-of-factly state things on here.

BTW, I can confirm that the cars with the "Special" paint code 01U in '96, '98, '00 and '02 were all B4Cs.

Well, I don't mean to be rude, even though I AM being rude , but please don't say info and spread it around unless you're sure it's right or you say some sort of disclaimer like "based on compnine's data". I've been trying to undo some of the incorrect info for several years now (mostly on camaroz28, not so much here), and don't want you confusing people about color names!
My site isn't perfect, especially the extremely neglected 1993 specific page, which does contain errors, but you/I/others have to check sources and not just believe something like compnine for data.
Compnine is pretty good for data, but there's some human error involved with the people who retype the info on it. It's hard to not make mistakes when you're dealing with hundreds of thousands of individual cars.

Maybe the info is not wrong, the name of the color depends on the brand. My GXP is called Sport Red Metallic but GM calls it another color in their catalog.

Yea im really serious about going for it, just trying to make the right decision and get the funds together. Exactly what you said, I highly doubt I'll see another one again.

I know the place it's at they always have a decent fbody supply. They seem to be hit or miss on prices, but this seems like a good deal. Try to knock them down though, I'd offer 4500-5000k and see what they say. It is a good looking clean car.

I went and looked at this camaro last saturday. The passenger side rocker panel was a little crunched and they also told me it had to have the front clip replaced. In the attached picture you can barely see the rocker panel damage.
I really liked the car but $6500 for a car that had been in an accident or two wasnt worth it to me. A friend of mine bought a camaro a few years back with the same type of damage to the rocker panel area and went to put on subframe connecters and found out the frame was a little bent. I don't think this is the case with this car but I didnt want to chance it.
Also, I have seen about 10-12 camaros for sale in this color over the last 6-8 months. I still have some of the links if your interested. I know one is a convertible too. I saw a Z28 in this color for sale for $10,000 and I found a V6 with the same miles as the one in the picture and it sold for $5000 to give you an idea on a price. It wasn't in any accidents either.
If you do buy this car I think it will be fine, but for what I wanted it for it would be too much work to get it how I would want it.
Just do you research and Good luck in your search for a new F-Body.

I just purchased a Z28 in the bright blue metallic and it is also equipped with t-tops. How can I find out how many of the 1117 produced were equipped with Z28 options and of those Z28's...... how many had t-tops?? Thanks

These days if you want to break down RPO codes with Compnine, you have to have one of the subscription plans. It's a real shame. The numbers game was a lot of fun when Compnine was free.

@JohnnyBs98WS6Rag, The poster that asked the question about a week ago is fortunate that you are still around here 11 years later. How many others are still here from 2010? It's amazing what gets pulled up from the past. This one at least is still as relevant as it was back then. It never gets old.
Thanks for hanging around so long

JohnnyBs98WS6Rag's knowledge and posts are always a great asset to the site. It's extremely rare for me to make a mistake or forget something relating to production specs/details of these cars but, on those rare occasions, JohnnyB is one of the very few guys likely to catch me! I really do appreciate the time he's put into the knowledge base of this site over the years.
