The Borg Warner 9 bolt was standard in the Tuned Port cars from 85-89. Parts are difficult to find, and they are a bit pricier. 90-92 (to 02, for that matter) used the smaller 7.65 10 bolt. I am unsure what was used 82-84.

The Dana option was only for the Firehawks I believe. There was no option for this from the factory (not a RPO).

Which means one will not find any cars with this rear from the factory.

the d44 was also sometimes a warranty replacement also for cars that busted more than one 10/9 bolt

i'm running a d44, they came with a clutch type positrac and 31 spline axles. its considerably stronger than a ten bolt, and has a 8.5" ring gear.

the 9 bolt is only marginally stronger than a ten bolt, and with how hard parts are to find its not really worth getting one.
