Does anyone on this site own one of these cars? 1969 ZL1? 2002 ZL1? If so, do you run them? I've always been a fan of them, but I was just wondering what the real world performance is. Thanks.

They only made 69 ZL1 cars back in '69, they are so valuable now that I doubt you'll see one in action. I know of one that was bought new by a guy I know, and extensively drag raced since day one. The title never had ink on it. It was either the number one or number two most optioned ZL1. Back in the day the iron block 427's always seemed to run faster than the ZL1's. Craig Jackson bought this local NHRA Pro Stock tubbed ZL1 many years ago and put it back to stock. Bob

Well even though the cars were produced in a limited amount, I know there's always "that guy" who's willing to drive it like he stole it. I'd still like to know if there's a COPO 9560 or 9561 (ZL1 or L72 car) owner who runs one present day. How about an 02 GMMG ZL1 owner? There has to be someone here with one.

Hate to be "that guy" but a guy who lives down the street from me has a 69 ZL1. I unfortunately have yet to see it, but my uncle has. From what I've heard he didn't really know just how rare it was when he bought it so he ripped around in it for a while, then restored it and now it sits (at least I've never seen it come out of the garage). Does not have the original engine either, but a direct replacement (the original was having problems right after the original owner bought it and was replaced then from what I understand).
Like I said, I've never seen it personally nor talked to the owner, but I sure would like to.
