Default Right Decision??

I have recently been looking into 4th gen camaros and after about a month of looking could not wait any longer a finally purchased one?? i was wanting to get others opinions on my decision. It was between a 96 ss camaro and a 01 z28 camaro. The 01 had 104xxx miles and the guy wanted 6000 for it. It sounded pretty good but maybe as if it had been hammered on and he was trying to get rid of it. I wanted this car because it had the ls1 but i instead opted for the 96 ss. I payed 5700 for it. It was a salvage title but only needs minor work on the front control arm and fender. Did i make the right decision. It is number 390 and came with leather interior the slp loudmouth 6speed, stage 2 suspension, rear spoiler, floor mats and had original window sticker and slp option sheet. i think i made the better decision because it is a rarer car but idk if i over paid for it or not. Also it has all the ss emblems and stickers but by the rear taillight there is no bowtie beside the ss badge?? does this mean its not an ss?? i dont see how it couldnt be though cuz it has all the info?? Did they all have this bowtie and where can i get one if they do can anyone rate my decision and tell me more about this car and how it is compared to high mileage stock ls1 car

if im not mistaken, the 96 ss lt1 is making around 311 hp while the a 2002 z28 is making around 305... for the rarity of the car and for the price, i think i wouldve made the same decision. the lt1 ss camaros are a bit more rare then the ls1 ss camaros and the lt1's are known for making massive torque. so depending on mileage, id say you made a good buy.

Stock LT1s dyno closer to 260. You bought a car with a salvaged title, in need of work when you could of had a LS1? Theres a reason why the LT1 guys are in the minority. Good luck with the Opti spark system. The LS1 was more powerful and faster car.

if you questioning if you made a good choice or not then obviously you made a bad choice.

No its not that at all i didnt know much about the cars and the difference between the two besides the one is aluminum block. I was just trying to gain some intell i am completely happy with my decision from what i see ls1s dont handle high mileage as well so it prob wouldnt have put out near the power with 104xxx. And the work needed was just bolt ons got it together and she is ready to roar. Does anybody here no much about this year car cuz i have some specific questions that i wouldnt mind knowing the answers to but thanks anyways guys

my ls1 has 142000 miles doesn't burn oil and runs like a top. You didn't do your homework.

Actually there is a thread about mileage on LS1's...

https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-l...ge-thread.html

There it is. I'm still on the original oil pump and water pump too. Sorry your friend had a issue. I would not say that is remotely normal. Give it time...that opti will leave you stranded. My wife has a friend who sold his Z because he had replaced the opti 3 times and it only had 107000 miles.

Truth be told though...I LOVE the way LT1/4 sound with a good exhaust. I think they sound better than LS's. Since you can't run with your foot to the floor all the time, might as well sound good idling in traffic or a quick sprint.
