Default 98 z28 with SGS button??

i have a friend who has a 98 z and today when trying to do a burnout, it felt like the car lost power. It has a sgs button on the dash next to the foglight switch. i read and it looks like a v6 option. wtf is happening?

Sounds like a previous owner swapped the original V6 motor for an LS1 and put badges on it.

Check the vin if its 8th digit is a G then you know it came with the ls1 anything in the car could have been swapped he could have messed up the dash and replaced it or broke the traction control button and installed a different one
