1968 Camaro - Project "BLUE HOUR"

Yep! Finally got some work done on it.
Lesson #3,203 for myself: When pouring new power steering fluid into the reservoir... make sure you've connected all the hoses... Kinda spilled half a quart of PS fluid all over the shop floor before I realized I forgot to hook up the return line. LOL
Not a lot of work has been done on the car lately as I've been working on other projects, completely unrelated to the Camaro.
My buddy Nate Shaw made me another part for my car, this intake tube. It has to be an odd shape because the over flow tank for the radiator protrudes out a bit. Nate's going to match the valve covers' finish, so it should be killer.

I got some sweet bling in the mail and it's been a while since I've been able to get to it, but LED's are the way to go. They are so much brighter and clearer, not to mention the bezels look hella sweet compared to the dusty old ones. I got mine from Eddie Motorsports, the same place I got my hood pins, latch and hood hinges.
Just noticed that I hadn't replaced the flasher yet so the it looks like the brakes are on full all the time. Funky stuff happens I guess when you try to install LEDs with the correct flasher.

Back from the bling trip and now on to the business end of things.
The engine bay is D-D-D-DOOONNNNE!! YYEEAAAH!!
Almost ready to fire it up, just waiting on a transmission. Then onto the front half of the carpet and put the torque arm back in and it's time to drive this summabich!
Not too bad for a psychotherapist with 11 thumbs and no patience. LOL

No worries, I tried to add it up the other day and I was a little shocked myself LOL
UPDATE 4-29-12
I was able to find some time between work and my anniversary to get my transmission put in.
I got me a Tranzilla!! MUUHAHAHH!!!
It's basically a modified Tremec Magnum by Rockland Standard Gear.
Gear ratios:
2.97 2.07 1.43 1.00 .80 .50
It's built with carbon rings in gears 1 through 4 and a viper tailshaft/extension.
I'm so god damned stoked for this I can't take it. This thing shifts so damn nice it's crazy! Can't wait to actually drive it and shift it for real HAH!
They told me that this combo is good up to 1,000ft lbs, so i'm really ready to upgrade that motor when it gets a little too "slow" hehe.
The only problem I ran into was the cross member that comes with the speed tech frame. The Viper tailshaft is a lot lower than the stock T56. Had to add some extensions between the crossmember and the frame. Good thing this frame has so much room to play with I didn't really have to modify squat. Really makes things a lot easier, that's for sure. I need to change out the TH400 tranny yolk with a 30-spline viper version. Anyone have a spare one? *hint hint*
The car is going off tomorrow to the painter to get the hood painted, alignment and a few touch ups to some scratches I made. By then the rest of the stainless exhaust should have shown up so we literally only have that left and the car is ready to be driven!!

Speed density.
Ok, car went off to paint today... Except it didn't go so well. I was so full of myself that i didn't bother to look at the obvious flaw, the ride height. Pretty sweet stance though, eh?
Ride height wasn't set yet and we had a bit of a rub .... well... all over. LOL
In the spirit of full disclosure, I did manage to get the car stuck on the world's smallest curb... in front of my house. haha
And then it was off to paint and alignment.

I think a while back someone asked for a start up video... well... how about a video of the very first start up?!?!
How's this? It shocked the crap out of me that it actually started on the first crank over haha!
Might want to turn your speakers down, i haven't put the exhaust on it yet.

UPDATE:
Finally getting some noticeable progress from the body shop after they fixed a bunch of junk that had been neglected. Car got an alignment, raised about an inch to clear my driveway LOL.
I was shocked to hell that my 'eyeballed' front frame install was laser checked to within 1/10th of 1 degree. We don't need no stinking tape measurers!!! HAHAH!!
Anywhoozle, to the photos
Doing some custom stripes, the paint scheme should match the wheel lip brushed metal finish
I thought I was clever and the first to think of this idea... that is until I noticed the 2012 Camaro at the dealership have the EXACT same stripe pattern... that I literally drive by everyday for the past 2 years.... so much for originality lol.
Exhaust is next, most likely this week the car should be wrapped up and tagged for the street!! w00t!!

Havent BSed with you in awhile man.
This is one of the nicest 1st gen builds Ive seen in a long time. Love it Max.
Is this still the same 1st gen from back before the Anti-Rice days?

Yep, this is the same car as the old AR days... took the last year or so and rebuilt it
Here's the stainless exhaust we finished.... the 10" muffler cuts down the noise, but it's still pretty loud. Why? Because racecar!
