Talking New to the bowtie.

Ok, I started on the gminsider forum and a couple of guys point me over here for questions. I have a 1997 Camaro convertible with a blown v-6. A friend of my so happens to have a 5.3l vortec v-8. I have always been a mopar guy but The price for the camaro was really, really good. I know I am going to need to source a wiring harness and an ECU and the like, but I want to know structurally what will need to be done to the engine bay? I am keeping it a cruiser with A/C and keep the automatic tranny (as much as I want a manual, it just isn't in the cards right now.) My main question is, can it be done without a doctorate in engineering and has anyone done this swap before?

Default

do a search, this has been done many times.

i'm not as well read on the subject of 4th gens, but it can't be too difficult, i put a 6.0l in my 3rd gen with ease.

might be as simple as swapping mounts or possibly a k-member. should be pretty straight forward.
