Default 99 z28 against 2011 ss

I basically have a stock z28 ls1 just lid and flowmaster exhaust cat back and just put in a strange 12 bolt with 4.11 gears. A friend of mine has a 2011 ss with a flowmaster cat back. We took off from a roll 1st gear i jumped out in front at the end of the race i ended up loosing having to shift 5 times and him 3 times. You think shifting that many times would of done it or just because he has all around more power?

Well, it's 426hp as standard and a couple of fat guys heavier than your 4th gen. I wouldn't feel too bad about losing to it...

idk mph because i havent got a tune yet for the speedo. he said 130 and about half a car length. it was over a 1/4 mile

do you know a good handheld tuner for gears and just all around performance? ive done some research and they are all around about the same except a hand full.

If it was those speeds and that minimal of a spread, then I'd certainly not be worried.
