New to Camaros.. Need help identifying 396
A friend is looking at a 69 Z11 pace car. Convertible.
Z11 on cowl tag
has the right style body number
It has the 12 bolt rear
Has exhaust hanger on the frame for dual exhaust
Has the SS and 396 badges
Has the right paint and interior ... White 50 and hounds tooth 720 codes for a z11 Norwood car
4 speed
I'm a Buick GS guy so my Chevy motor identification skills are limited in determining a 350 or 396 and if it's numbers matching
The only number I can find in front of the passenger head is 11206JB
Does that decode to anything? I cant find hits on google
I appreciate any help
Curtis

I found the engine code is likely T1206JB
that dates out to Dec 6, almost 3 months before the car date 02D - last week of Feb.
I could not find the VIN on the block by the passenger side Head today, so when the car gets back to my buddies place this weekend, I will verify the VIN by the oil filter.
At least the motor date is before the car but 3 months seems too early.
But that means if not original, the motor came from another big block Camaro with a manual trans.. which would be quite a coincidence
