I don't have any nice outside pics because the car needs paint, which it will be getting this "off-season", but here is a pic of the engine for the 1969 that my father, brother, and I have been restoring/badassifying for about four years. When we got it, it was running on four cylinders and one bbl, but the interior was factory and in perfect condition, which was what made us settle on this one as our starting point. This pic was taken last summer, so there's even more to see now. I'll try and get some up to date pics tomorrow and post one or two. See sig for specs.

I believe the best way would be to get all the body work done but leave it in primer. Then do all the mechanicle work done so that if you have to modify something like the firewall you dont have to get it repainted and take the engine out again anyways. It will take longer to install everything, take everytihng out, paint, then reinstall, but i believe that it will be probably the cheapest(if you do the the work youself).
So here are the steps i believe would be best:
1)body work
2)primer
3)mechanicle work
4)take everything out
5)paint
6)reinstall everything
Thats just the way i would do it b/c of my past experiences.

I've had my 67 Camaro since June 11, 1996..... The previous owner bought it June 11, 1989, and its build date is in the 2nd week of June. The engine it had was a 355ci with the 30-30 solid cam, TH350 Transmission. First install I did was to install a 700R4, a few weeks later I installed my 383ci stroker and 4.10's. Got tired of that engine, so I sold both the engine/trans with another car I used to have.
The engine that it currently has is a L31 Vortec with Speed-Pro Flattops and modded Vortec heads, ZZ4 Roller Camshaft, GM Perf Parts vortec intake manifold. Has about 10.5-1 compression and should do around 390-400HP at the flywheel. I also installed another 700R4 at the same time as that engine. This combo has been in the car for 3 years now, and I've only driven it ONE mile since I did a ton of other work during the same time period (upper dash and subframe were rusted, not anymore though!) Up next for Drivetrain is a T56 install and probably a ProCharged LT1.
It also now has complete Energy Suspension Poly Bushings, Competition Engineering Subframe Connectors, Front Disc Brakes, and 8.5" 10-bolt with 3.73's. There is still allot of work to be done, but with the chassis stuff outta the way now maybe I can focus on paint/body a little more. Original color of Bolero Red will be painted on it.

My 67
Three 454's, one 427, three TH400's, countless 1/4 mile trips, and now one LS1/6speed with A/C.
I had to be one of the first 5 to complete the LS1 transplant into a first gen.

I'm not over here too often, but had to check out the 1st gen's.
A '67 pace car and a '68 RS/SS BB, ...I was lucky enough to have them used on the Camaro Legends tour. (The '67 has since been sold, ...back to Chevrolet I have a 'twin' to the Teal Blue '68 RS/SS, ...it's a '68 RS 327/275hp Teal Blue Convertible, Deluxe Blue Interior, ...that right now is in it's (pitiful) original state, ...next to be restored.

I have a 68 camaro Coupe, its originally a 327/glide car --which I still have. It currently sports a brodix headed, solid rollered, 383 that is estimated to make around 535 at the flywheel. The car isn't in great shape but reliable to drive(as a matter of a fact it will be going to college with me next week for some TLC). It needs a paint job pretty bad. I have plans for a COMPLETE resto and a LS1 implant.
here are a few of the latest pics that I have on this page
