Question Safest Air Bag Removal Method?

Has anyone had the driver airbag off thier 4th Gen? I need to replace the horn buttons. I have read where some guys just disconnect the battery and remove the fuse. Then there are some who say to go as far as to disconnect wiring at steering column below the dash. No Power, No POP??

Don't mean to threadjack, but I just have a quick question. The previous owner of my car left the airbag in the steering wheel, but the air bag sensors and stuff are taken off the car. When I go to hook those back up do I need to disconnect the battery or anything, or can I just hook them up without worrying about it deploying the airbags?

Never hook up anything electrical with the battery connected.

the proper way for my corvette was to unplug the yellow wire harness and ground the plug pins to discharge capacitors. A static spark could set it off if it is not discharged properly.
