Default Best bang for the buck mods

So, I just purchased an 02 WS6, 65k miles. Love the car so far. It has I believe SLP headers and electric cutouts, and that's the only modifications I'm aware of.

Now, with that said, I'm not super car savvy. However, I did notice what most people are calling a "Lid" I instead have a K&N branded "lid". Is this worth a ****, or should I go buy the SLP lid or another brand?

Also - what mods should I start with? I've been reading about the FAST 90/92 and 102 intake - are they worth the money? I also read that the 102 needs some fabricating for proper fitment?

Just looking for the best bang for my buck. Looking to keep it as my daily, and plan a very mild cam in the future. But for now, what type of bolt on modifications will give me the best bang for my buck?

If you are looking at those intakes you need to read alittle more. To get the full potential out of those you would need better heads and cam. If its an auto a stall would wake up the car. Matched with a nice set if gears will only make it better. A set of dragradials and some suspention will also help. The lid you mentioned is fine. All lids are the same.

It's an M6 WS6.

Just wondering what bolt-on's are worth the cash? Not looking to mess with gears as they are short enough as-is. Looking for additional power past the exhaust.

Google "LS1 best performance parts" and there is a full article on what parts are beneficial, how hard they are to install and the dollar:hp ratio

Will the free mods really help performance much? I'm not completely broke. Wouldn't mind spending 1-2k to get a little bit of extra power, just so I can say it's not "stock".

I'm looking for any mods that I can add to boost HP. Already have a full exhaust. Don't want gears.

Any ideas? Apparently I don't want an intake unless I have Heads/Cams..? So, what else should I do?

The intake will still help some, just more so if you do heads and cam. You could do small things like a underdrive pulley, SSRA, ported TB, etc...

does the car have stock gears? The stock gears are ridiculously long so that why I ask a set of 3.90's or 4.10's really wont make much difference driving around but it'll wake it up at wot.

other than that an underdrive pulley, lid, ported tb (can be done free) and a tune would put you n good shape

I've made three different posts saying this, but I don't want gears. I'm looking for HP gains. I think it may already have gears because they feel very short, but I'm going to check the RPM's at different speeds to know for sure. It's already got full exhaust and I think it may have a little more - feels pretty damn quick. However, just not interested in gears at the moment. Looking for bolt-on performance if possible.

You got headers and exhaust already. Performance mods beyond that are pretty much heads and cam. You can do all the UD pulleys and stuff but if you want to feel it in your *** and notice an actual difference, spend the 1-2k you got and buy a decent package. ~1500$, you will notice a huge difference, people DD them all the time..

Wow, so headers and exhaust are the only bolt-on type mods people do on these cars? Was under the impression there were tons of bolt-ons that can add up to a decent 30-40hp chunk. I guess I'll start looking into a cam setup.

Intake/full exhaust usually adds close to 50rwhp, taking you from ~300+rwhp bone stock to ~350+rwhp. You will see gains from an aftermarket intake manifold, however it will be small (~10rwhp) compared to when you do a heads/cam with the aftermarket intake(~30+rwhp).

Hence why I recommended gears they may not add hp but they will easily knock just as much et off as a good bolt on. Not sure why you dont want them but thats fine. It seems you did most other bolt ons, so short of a lid and UDP its pretty much it. Are there other mods to increase hp? Sure. A fast and electric water pump will maximize power but they certainly arent bang for the buck compared to a cam.

He could upgrade the valve train, lightweight flywheel and clutch, under drive pullys, port the throttle body, already have full exhaust, electric water pump, light weight wheels, replace the factory air box with a SLP lid and ram air...

Mostly all this stuff was mentioned.

Op what are we leaving out besides heads, cam, intake, throttle body, turbo / super charger?

he doesnt want any mods that dont add hp..... which is pretty backwards about how to make a car fast. seeing as most mods dont add hp but make the car "work" better and thus faster

he could go to a set of 1.8 rockers for 10-12hp but that becomes useless when he does a cam
