Default 3rd Gen F Body Magnaflow Catback fitment on 4th Gen...

Curious to know how well the 3rd gen catback would fit on the 4th gen. I believe that layout is similar as far as where the muffler sits and the shape and bend angles of the over axle pipe. Im sure the hangar points are a bit off.

Parting out the 92 F body and am keeping most of the aftermarket stuff and installing what will work on the 4th Gen.

Not sure why signature isn't showing, but it's a Camaro. Some of the research I've done on a third gen site shows that some folks have used 4th gen catbacks on 3rd gen f bodies. It seems like the only issues have been the hangar locations needed changed to mate with the 3rd gen. If so, in theory a 3rd gen catback should fit my car with some modification of the hangar location.

OK, your sig shows now.

You'll get better answers here in Camaroland.

I believe the piping is the same from the cat back for the third gen and the LT1 fourth gen. Hangers might be off.

I installed a Magnaflow catback from a 98-02 LS1 Camaro on my 87' Firebird last year. As mentioned, the hangars were off a bit, but nothing bad at all. Wasn't any harder than installing any other catback really. The I pipes are where the main differences will be. The LS1 style I pipe is straight down the side of the driveshaft with no flange or anything, at least mine didn't, which worked great for me as I have long tubes with a custom Y pipe, so they mated perfectly. The Edelbrock catback I put on my 91' Firebird, when I had it, had a turn at the front of the I pipe and a socket type flange where it connected to the stock cat. My 91' was a TBI car though, I think the TPI's could be had with different setups.
