Transmission question
So my transmission decided to bite the bullet. It won't get beyond second gear. I even tried changing the filter and new fluid with Lucas no slip in it. Still no good. Well anyways I've seen a lot of 4l60-e transmissions for sale, new and used. What I wanted to know is can I use any one even out of a truck as long as it's an automatic and is for sure a 4l60-e? I don't know much about transmissions and was wondering also is it hard to put in yourself? Do you need special tools? I have the 3.8 v6 BTW. The only way ill end up not selling this car is if i can save some money and do it myself or find somewhere really cheap. But i love this car.

No, any 4l60e will not work. V6 have a different input shaft ( 298 mm ), different bell housing, different torque converter.
Ls 4l60e has a bolt hole at the 12 o'clock position on the bell housing, 300 mm input shaft.
What year is your vehicle ?
As far as removing your transmission, it's not a bad job at all. If it's your first time I recommended it not be your daily driver and have another vehicle available.
No special tools needed, just various sockets and different length extensions.
