My long term plan is for a LS2 stroker for the 02 Z28 using a set of upgraded GMPP CNC'd LS6 heads with 250cc intake runners, 2.04 intake valves and revised valve job focused on mid-lift flow but that's a long time away. Sharing a few photos from Land Speed Cylinder Heads of the reworked chamber of my old GMPP's. Several CC's of material removed to hit 67 cc chambers with heads cut .030, if I recall correctly stock LS6 is 64cc. Brett at Land Speed has done a lot of quality work helping me wring more potential out the heads.

Picked up the my 99 TA's old LS1 from Norris Motorsports a few weeks ago. Planning to pull the TEA S2 5.3's and see see the condition etc. Most of the last two weeks has went into cleaning the garage up and out Had to clear out a spot to work on the motor and pull the heads.
99 TA's heads & cam LS1. 132,000 miles with heads & XER cam, still ran great when pulled for the TA's new 416. Probably the basis for a mod'd engine for the 02 Z28.
Unloaded. Plan to pull heads and get the cracked valve guide in #5 exhaust fixed. Maybe refresh valve job and etc.
Easter Bunny left a present
New tool box to add to the clutter
The weather warmed up so the 02 Z28's spot turned into short term storage.
Reorganized
72 Vette, 91 RS and cleared out spot to work.
The 02 Z28 is daily driver again with the good weather. Collecting parts. Header gaskets, header bolts, Summit rockers, Summit Ghost Cam have arrived. Have a Tony Mamo ported Fast 102 LSXR on the way, not sure if that will go on the 91 RS or the 02 Z28 or shelf for a 408 build.
Trying to work out a few parts swaps:
1) maybe be able to get a used 4 inch crank & rods
2) possible ABS & TC 10-bolt with 3.42's
3) have a lead on a set of chrome Z06 style wheels
Saw a Twin Turbo kit in marketplace, I'd love to try on the 02 Z28 but tax refund was lacking

Thank you, AINT Scared My dad's 72 Vette got my hot rod affliction started and eventually became mine. The 91 RS I bought after college and was the daily driver for a long time.
The parts swap/deal update.
1) maybe be able to get a used 4 inch crank & rods - didn't work out
2) Got the ABS & TC 10-bolt has 3.73's instead of 3.42's
3) Getting a set of chrome Z06 style wheels as soon as his new wheels aerive.

Dropped the SS hood & SS spoiler off at body shop today for paint. Hopefully, in two weeks or so the 02 Z28 with be sporting a new look.
Only decisions pending are should the panel in front of the scoop be painted black and should the berger panel be painted black. I think the black accents look great but want the 02 to "match" my plain-jane appearing 91RS. Hoods has to be painted white so I have a couple of days to consider.

I would paint the hood scoop black and leave the back white with black Camaro inserts.

Decided to go with white hood...maybe decal later or vinyl wrap hood scoop black later on.
Found out car needs a little pull on frame machine to get the hatch to open and close correctly.
That ate my hood scoop budget.

There were several really cool rides at the show. 2019 1LE SS Camaro, 800hp Shelby Cobra and my favorite a rat rod build by owner shown below. He'd suffered an aneurysm that was almost fatal a few years ago. Motivation to work on his truck had fueled his desire to recover. He the build had been his therapy ....
"Fang" the M8 Mustang. Not sure what "Fang" is bur the owner clearly love his car.
2019 1LE - car looked great in person, picture doesn't do justice
65 Galaxy owner brought a taste of a bygone era with him
The 800hp Shelby Cobra. Never been washed with 17,000 miles

It's been a big week for the Z28. My friend's new wheels arrived so I've got a set of chrome Z06 style wheels to pick up for $250 Set of red powder coated stock calipers are ordered too.
Next up a set of Summit drilled & slotted rotors plus new pads.
That will end the appearance mod phase.

The rear hatch had been hard to close since I got the car. I assumed the hinges were worn out causing the hatch to sit to far back resulting in a misalignment issue with the latch.
Turns out an when the car was hit the rear the back end wasn't pulled exactly right. Both fenders lined up etc but the center of rear needed a small pull. Andy's Collison & Repair car of that and then noticed the lock cylinder was installed upside down. Next ACR discovered work apparently done by blind inbred Bubba. The actual lock mechanism support was off alignment by half an Inch. The Bubba shop and slapped a pop riveted plate in placed to relocate the latch. This required installing the lock cylinder upside down. Apparently the out Bubba was also drunk on rot gut because the pot rivet plate was mis-located as well
Andy's best quote "This back lock is so monkey mucked up, I can't let **** like this out of my shop without fixing it."
This is much better than before but i will probably still replace the hinges and see if that helps the alignment too. The hatch opens and closes normally now
Next I discovered the brake light cover is different between the Z28 spoiler and the SS spoiler - oops.
Got to call Hawk's Motorsports looks like
This weeks project wash, claybar & hand wax Z28
