Default First gen interior

Okay guys didnt know if this should go in interiors or here, im planning a ls1/t56 swap in my 68 for next winter and heres what im wondering.

-What to do with gauges, I absolutely love those stewart warners that nine ball used in his 69 however i dont have endless $$$, so could the camaro gauge cluster be formed into a 68.... also would like to keep the warning lights

-What type of shifter to use

-How can you adapt a 4th gen console to a first gen

-What pedals to use (i have a th350 so should i buy first gen clutch/brake pedal or adapt the 4th gen, and what about the throttle)

-In going to the 4th gen console are there any shortcuts with the adapting e-brake

-were 4th gens built with non power non heated leather seats?

I think the power/heating/leather all came together, but I haven't found anything specifically saying that yet... Maybe you could get some baseline non-leather seats and re-cover them in leather (maybe even straight off some of the leather seats, if the shape is close enough), though?

Couple of ways to do this. You can use 5" tach and speedo in the stock 2-hole cluster and then either make a gauge pod in the center plate, or auto meter sells a 4 gauge pod for 68-69 consoles. There is also a company called Covan's Classics that designs gauges panels that feature the same design as the factory, but allow aftermarket gauges without cutting up the dash. We sell them at NPD for Camaros and Chevelles, and I'm doing up one for my 70 Nova. You can buy with gauges already wired up, or a blank panel for your own custom set-up. Check out http://www.covansclassic.com

I was looking at the covans unit and it looks like a great unit if I were trying to replace the stock units (as it plugs into the stock harness) however wouldnt the ls1 have a stand alone harness, or do the conversion harness adapt the gauges into the factory 68 dash harness, has anyone adapted the stock gaugepod from a ls1 into a first gen? if not I sure as hell want to try
