From V6 to V8

From V6 to V8
I have a 1995 Chevrolet Camaro. It has a 3.4l v6 engine. I've considered either purchasing a Camaro with an LT1, or putting an LT1 in the camaro that i currently have. I would like to hear some of your opinions as far as choosing which way to go. Couldn't i buy a camaro with an LT1 for cheaper than doing an engine swap? The LT1 uses a different transmssion doesn't it? That would be an issue as well.

Buy a Z28 LT1. You can pick up one in decent shape for between $4000-$7500 (in REAL good shape on the upper end). It would be your cheaper route. We just swapped a 351W in my buddy's 1989 Mustang Coupe 2.3L and it was a PITA. It would have been cheaper just to buy a 5.0 and built it,

I recently had a LT1 put in a 1982 Z28; runs awesome, super strong. Costly though! Hind sight is always 20:20. I love my LT1 and I have great plans, but honestly, if I had it all to do over, I'd save a little more and have the LS1 dropped in. Stock to stock, LS1's put out more, and from what i've been told, easier to work on???

a whole lot easier to work on. of course the ls1 has more power.. Lt1s are old school technology vs the lighter, more hightech ls1. id say i love my lt1 but its in about 100 peices right now so i cant say much about loving it right now.

In all honesty, you probably could buy an LT1 Camaro for about the same that it'll probably cost you to do the swap. The LS1 swap is a bit more cost effective, but also a bit more costly, and more work.
