Default Which car

I am debating in buying two different cars from a local delaership. Would liek you opinion as to which would be best bang for the buck. Sorta new, so I would appreciate any pointers.

1998 - gold SS a4
leather, all options, t-tops
49 k
11,200$
mint

1998 - blue z28 m6
cloth, a few options, t-tops
59k
9,000$

Which would be faster stock for stock, which would be faster with a FEW bolt ons (no cams), which would be better on gas, which would have better resale?

Thanks agains guys, im pretty sure hwich i plan to get but dont wanna sway ure opinions, i will post which i buy at the end of the thread

Well the SS is gonna be rare especially with the gold paint. It all depends on what you like far as trannys. I've had both and my auto's were better at the track but my sticks were quicker on the street. I think a 6 speed with get you better gas mileage but that all depends on how you drive too.
Personally even having a 6 speed now I'd chose the SS since it's rare as hell being only 1 of 29, I like the rare cars. You can always switch out tranny's in the future. Good luck and keep us posted

Which would be faster stock for stock? The Z28 will. It has an M6 and it has less options so it is lighter.

Which would be faster with a FEW bolt ons? The Z28 will. It has an M6 and it has less options so it is lighter. A4's are more consistant though and if you take some stuff out of the SS it will be lighter too. Add that with a nice convertor

Which would be better on gas? The Z28 will. 6 gears

Which would have better resale? The SS will. As pointed out above, it is rare pretty rare being gold.

what figures am i looking at in the mpg range for the ss vs the m6 z28

edmunds claims 19 mpg / 29 mpg for the ss with 5.1 0-60
and 18 mpg / 27 mpg for the z28 with A 5.1 0-60 as well

i know these numbers may be skewed a bit so can anyone chime in the real est. mpg?

Also the range of 1/4 mile times would be nice too

go for the gold SS. That's not a bad price for that car either. You never see gold SS's around.

I've never even seen a gold SS before. They made 29 in total I bet there are probably only a dozen with an A4!! Talk about a rare car!!

I say get that one, I always liked the gold F-bodies.

I would also say the gold SS, plus it has 10,000 miles less then the Z-28. Though Blue is a bad azz color also.

This is just me, but I'd either find an M6 SS or buy the M6 Z28. Back in 97 I bought a sweet 94 ford Supercoupe automatic(manual was an option on those) even though I wanted a manual, because I was blinded by love for the car. I still own that car, and I still wish I had found a MANUAL instead! Don't rush into buying it. Buy exactly what you want, the cars are out there. I got lucky I got exactly what I wanted this time. I know it's not an SS but it's just as fast and killer looks and sound if you ask me and about $6-7 less than an SS vert and I really wanted a vert too. Click the link in my signature if you want to see my black/black/black/chrome 02 vert m6 that the previous owner put an SS hood and borla exhaust and whisper lid on it to make it as strong as the SS...BRILLIANT!

and gladly he didn't badge it up.

Well, which one did you buy?

Hopefully the Gold SS, those cars are ultra-rare!
