Someone suggested a company in this thread about converting the front brakes: https://ls1tech.com/forums/pontiac-firebird-1967-2002/300435-halt-i-have-brake-question.html
Looks like they have rear disc brakes kits too. http://www.ssbrakes.com/

You can get a TA rear end, or one from a Pontiac Formula with disc brakes on it,
that is quickest and easiest.
Or you can get a kit from Willwood, MPBrakes, Stainless Steel, or someone else,
I have a Wilwood kit on back of my 79 Camaro, but honestly, it was not worth the time or money.
I would upgrade the front brakes before I upgraded the rears, nothing wrong with rear drums as long as you have front discs and all your brake components are in good condition and properly working. I know 9 second cars with rear drums.
