Z28 was an RPO option on a V8 Camaro from 1967 through 1974.
Z28 emblems first appeared in 1968.
Z28 became it's own model when it returned in 1978 (after a 3 year hiatus) and stayed that way through 1987 when the IROC-Z took it's place.
(1985-87 both Z28 and IROC-Z were available)
1988 through 1990 was IROC-Z only.
1991 through 2002, Z28 was it's own model again.

First year of the Z/28 had 602 cars, thus they made the minimum ruling, then people caught on and Chevrolet started promoting the car more in the early spring of 1968, and the following year close to 7200 sold, followed by over 20,000 Z/28's in 1969.
