Thumbs up SLP Mods

Has anyone added any of the SLP packages to their Camaro's/Firebirds? I have the package that boosts the horsepower to 350 and torque to 350. It even came with a dash sticker plate that states 350hp, 350 ft/lbs, 5.7L, and 10.1:1 compression ratio. It really makes a fast car even faster. I love it!

I am surprised to hear this. My SS is faster than any I have been up against, not to mention all the GT's I dust. Gas mileage was not hurt, but there is a noticeable increase in performance.

Well first off, if you're happy ignore the rest.

But FYI, the reason people say this is the SLP packages are not cheap. And you could get the same performance for far less money. Also some people don't like SLP so they automatically say they are crap. Which is just plain DUMN. All of the SLP stuff is built very well, however some of it doesn't perform quite as well as some of the other stuff out there.

What parts did you buy?

As for beating GT's, well that should be easy even without any mods. In fact from a roll a pretty near full bolt on GT will probably only keep up at best. From a dig it may be a different story however, as Stangs tend to hook pretty good.

I don't think anyone mocked him or looked down on him. It was his wording he got a little friendly teasing about I'm sure his car is pretty badas and I for one am happy he likes it.

The problem with SLP is their stuff is over-rated. They play on the people who think that they should keep their SS/Firehawk "all SLP".

I loved my SS, don't get me wrong (I'll be buying another one in a couple months), but the thing I hated most was that it was made into a SS by SLP. Why GM couldn't do it themselves or send it to ASC is beyond me.

What makes ASC any better than SLP? I have no issues with my SS and the SLP options I have. Buying them direct from them is expensive though. There's only a handful of things I would buy from them. I had wanted to keep my car all SLP but after researching I've found they're about 50% higher than anyone else and usually their stuff doesn't perform as well as the cheaper stuff does. SLP pissed me off when they shut down their message boards with no warning, no sorry, no nothing. Just boom...we're gone you're SOL...thanks for nothing!

As stated , SLP does make quality products but you can buy better products for less money . It's rare to find a SLP product that offers more performance for less cash. After you find your way around this site , you'll see what I mean. Nobody's bashing your choices , we just have been there and know better now.

Buying an SS with the SLP Options is a GREAT way to get some of the
Performance Gains that you would have done anyway,......
AND, still keeping it under the GM Warranty.
I have an SLP edition 2002 SS.
Several SLP Options such as
Center Mount Exhaust & Whisper Lid----345HP Option
Auburn Locking Differential
1LE Bilstien Performance Suspension
10 Spoke Chrome Wheels
SS Grille<----(How many Camaro SS's have you seen with the plain Grille)...TONS
True as I might not still have some of these options, BUT it is a way to add a little
personalization to it and keep it under warranty.

Um, there is no "SLP Edition". It's still a SS with SLP options. Nothing "special edition" about it.

SLP - what color and trans. do you have? If any of these cars are ever collectors the SSs will be the ones. I don't think the plain jane Z28 is going to be nearly as hot as the SS.

I know there's not an "SLP Edition"
I was referring to the Option Upgraded SS's
Haven't had any problem with the chrome on the wheels.

The 1LE is Koni shocks, bigger ant-sway bars and harder bushings. For a daily driver the Bilstein makes for a better combo. The 1LE is rough!
