I was thinking it might be cool to put some chrome superman S badges on my car, but I'm not sure if that would be ok to people because my car is not actually weakened by cryptonite.

Here's another what if badging question though...how about a 4th gen IROC Firebird badged car. Never a production option but certainly a reasonable styling excercise for Firebird guys.[/QUOTE]

I think that might look ok, but what about ss badges on a real nice 80's IROC, if done tastefully?

well, i think u should keep it z, bro. I mean it doesent really matter, if thats the way u want to go fine, but whenever someone adresses your car as an ss u either lie or feel like a dumb *** and say its not really an ss. i wouldnt do it if it were me, im putting an ss hood on my car and i already have the seats in and just got some slp 10-spoke rims, but im going to take the ss center caps off and put some bow-tie ones on in thier place. Anyways, all im sayin is, make it look good but dont be a poser!!
P.S. ace$nyper, those are sweet badges, i was thinking about getting those for my car and after seeing how nice they look on yours im definatly getting them!!!!!!

Who needs badges? Debadge that thing! Nah, I would keep it z28 or debadge it.
My car was a v6...then it went ls1 and now its ls2. My car has the ss hood and spoiler w/ z06 rims for the street. I tell people who are not really car people its an SS Camaro.....if they are car people I explain it a little more. I dont try to pass it off as an SS camaro but its just easier to say it to non-car people who dont quite understand.

how's this, my 87 has the SS hood and all 2000 SS badges including the dash plaque

another pic or two

http://usera.imagecave.com/ss400hp/Supersportcamaro.jpg

the front emblem is a 69 RS/SS emblem but the rest are for a 2000 SS

It's hard to make out the side emblems as they are red and black, there easy to see in person

I would definately do the hood and spoiler. Personally, I wouldn't do the badges. Z's are sweet cars, so no reason to get away from the name. It is your money, though. So do what you think will look the best, not what anyone else thinks. And 01pewter2001z28, i love your car. Great job with it!!!

why would you want to change badges? because Z28's "just dont get any respect outside of the chevy comunity." so you do care about what other ppl think??? me personally i think everyone here cares about what other ppl think to a degree thats the whole point. You build a car so you can enjoy driving it and so others can enjoy watching you drive it its what cruising around is all about.

This is just my view but if i had a Z28 and put all that SS stuff on it i wouldnt change the badges i would keep it Z28...those badges where on it when i bought it so there staying on there. Just like when i bought my dog i didnt cut his nuts off or whatever it is because thats what he was born with and thats what he is going to die with...with his nuts lol . Now i know some ppl are going to say "well you just contradicted yourself you said that those badges where on it when you bought it so there staying on there, but you would buy the hood and everything else..that wasnt on there when you bought it". I did didnt i...hmm...well i would then say well if my intention was to change the look then yes i changed the look by adding the hood, spoiler etc.. badges dont change the look and it would still be labeled a Z28 which is what it is.

I just dont understand how badges "make it look cooler" yea i can see how the hood and the spoiler etc... can change the look but what do the badges do for the look...nothing. They dont make it look any different, they dont make it go any faster. A Z28 has badges too that are in the same exact place as the SS ones are. There are a few ppl around here who did that, one guy actually did it to his v6 camaro and i wanted to kick him in the nuts. The other guys have Z28's. Everyone will find out eventually because words travel fast even in a big town like West Chester. When ppl see those dudes driving around its "oh theres the guys with the fake SS" but they seem to be happy so to each man his own...thats just how i look at it. and no one is right and no one is wrong do what you want to do, all we can do is give are opinion. i bought my car as an SS and when i die i am going to be buried with it and when i am buried with it it will still have the SS badges on cause thats what is it.

You can do anything you want by any means cause it is your car, you take care of it, you payed for it, it is yours not anyone elses. But that is something i personally will never do to any car.

well ladies and gentlemen i am going to bed take care

Got a Z28, could have bought the SS but a Z28 is specific to Camaro. Everybody has their reasons for getting what they get. As for just putting an SS hood or spoiler on, thats not posing but putting badges on, thats posing.

All these people that said oh it's not right to rebadge "YOUR" car should probably shhhh a bit. Are they at all paying for "YOUR" car or maybe they should start then they can start saying something. It's your ride and you pay for it, i didn't know that putting a hood and a spoiler meant that your a poser. Correct me if im wrong but we are all Chevy guys here, and most of all we are all Camaro guys. Who gives a ****, it belongs to you do what you want with it. Hood spoiler new badges do it all, **** drop a 427 into it and blow everyone away. No disrespect to anyone CHEERS!!!!

I don't think anyone said it was a poser thing to put the hood and spoiler on. They were just talking about the badges.
I would leave the badges on, but SSNAKEATER23 is right. It is your car, and it is your money. Do whatever you want to it so that when you go out and look at your car, you love it.

heres my z28 with ss hood and spoiler..i acctually prefer the z28 badge on the side over SS because of the variety you can get from all the previous year z28 badges.

You have a nice looking car. Leave the emblems alone. The problem is that people will ask you if that's really an SS. I just had two guys commenting on my SS Thursday and asking if it really was an SS. Since mine really is a factory option SS done at SLP, I could smile and say yes. What are you gonna say? No, I just like the SS emblems, and anyhow, the SS package was just wheels and tires and shifter and suspension and exhaust and functional ram air hood and rear spoiler; Other than that it's the same as a Z. Clone schmone.

You have a beautiful Z/28. I would have left the appearance fully stock.

I have owned 4 camaros, including 1 rs, 1 z28 and 2 SS including my 00 SS I now have and love. In my opinion you can put what ever you want on your car as long as you do not use the letters FORD or SVT! LOL!! Who cares what is on the side of your car. What matters is what is behind you! Watch out for blue lights but stay ahead of the blue oval boys!
