4th generation engine selection
I´m pretty new here on the forum, so I don´t know if thís question has been up before... if anyone know where it is maybe he/she could post a link?
To the Question:
Which engine is most suitable if you consider good driveability, not too expensive aftermarket parts, suitable for the do-it-yourself:er ... etc. LT1 or LS1???
My intention is to have a daily driver in the summertime in which I can put some bolt-ons and take it to the track a few times/season. I´m not very experienced with engines overall, but I´m not afraid to pop the hood and get to it. (I´m just afraid I´ll be sitting with some nuts and bolts that´s been left over when I´m done putting it together
)When it comes to design of the 4th gen camaro, I think both 93-97 and 98+ has it´s pros and cons...
So if you don´t mind, just hit me with your experiences
....and I apologize if my english is poor... I can´t help it - I´m from Sweden
Super forum by the way!!
Up to 50 hp difference between an LS1 and a LT1
The LS1 has vastly better access for tuneups
The LS1 is lighter
The LS1 gets better fuel mileage
The LS1 does not have the Opti Spark ignition system , which is good . When the Opti Spark is working correctly , it works very well . When it doesn't work correctly , it will give you serious headaches.
The LT1 cars will be cheaper to purchase and responds well to modifications but all in all the LS1 is a better buy. A '98 LS1 car is unique in the PCM and dash wiring so it might be harder for you to get parts for in Sweden . I hope this answered your questions.
Overall, it´s not that hard to find aftermarket stuff in sweden, but in nearly every case it´s VERY excpencive... instead people get together and order from the USA and splits the shipping costs...
