Apart from the obvious answer (69), I'd do a 91-92 Camaro RS. The RS because t-tops is not an option, it's a must. I'd get all the connectors, bars, etc. to make the frame and body strong so the body wouldn't twist from the supercharged and built TPI 350 that'll be under the hood.

The car I'd love to have...
99 Hugger Orange Z28 Hardtop, some huge warhawk type build up with no power adders, 4" Mufflex cat back with a single tail pipe, 6 speed, HUGE brakes, 9 inch, full road race suspension, 17x9.5/17x12 black CCW classics with 275/40 and 335/35/17 rubber.
The car I'm actually building...
2001 Mystic Teal B4C Camaro, Cartek 4x heads and cam package on the stock bottom end, vigilante lock up converter that stalls around 440 on the foot brake, 12 bolt with 3.73s, street/strip suspension, 15x4/15x9.75 Bogart D10s with Hoosier QTPs for the track, Polished 17x9.5/17x11 ZR1s with nitto DRs for the street. If I cook the high mile shortblock I'd probably get one of those 370 iron block kits with forged rods and pistons but the stock crank.

A Project car to me is a budget build/sbc built specifically for the track. I would go with something that had a frame under it. Probably go with an early 70's model, or 60's if i could get my hands on one. I also know that If I started on I would never finish. Good luck on whatever you choose
