Default educate me please!

Someone please help me. Was there a time between 98-02 that gm ran out of ls1 heads and intakes and substituted them with ls6 heads and intakes making a factory SS put 330 to the wheels. This is something someone tried telling me about there 01 ss. I have never heard this and believe him to be a liar. If antbody knows one way or the other please let me know so i can blow this retards spot up.

Some of the 01-02 models did get an ls6 block and they all got ls6 intakes but not ls6 heads.

All 2001-02 F-bodys got the LS6 intake and "truck" cam along with a better clutch set-up. Some late 2001s and about 40% of the 2002s got the LS6 block. There isn't a huge difference between the years insofar as rwhp, but the later F-bodys seem to be more consistantly above 300rwhp and it certainly isn't a SS-specific thing.

There's a thread on here somewhere about a handful of 02 cars that did have LS6 heads. I'll look for it for ya.

Here's the thread. Believe it if you want. Lucky them if it's true.

I gotta call BS on that one, GM had plenty of LS1 heads in stock and never ran out. Someone could have bought LS6 heads from the dealership and had them installed on the car though.

From what I' ve read, 10% of 01' s got the LS6 block, and 25% of 02' s got it. I' m not saying your percentage is incorrect, just don' t know where you got it. Secondly, it wasn' t just late 01's. My car was built in November.
