What did you expect the ford boys to do? They're down on displacement, so they had to do something to compete with the LS1. It costs alot to design a whole new engine so they slaped a S/C on it instead. I dont blame em, thats exactly what I would have done if I was trying to beat the F-bodys.
Fact is that power is power, doesnt matter how you get it. People who say that ford "cheated" by putting a S/C on the cobra need to have their head examined. Manufactures have been putting power adders on cars for years, hell even chevy has factory S/C cars, is that really unfair?

I've beaten several stock 03/04 Cobra with only a lid, cutout, tune and good air. Granted, they weren't very good drivers since they were running 13.0-13.20s @110 vs my 12.8-12.9 in 60 degree weather. I've also seen those same cars come back to the track a few weeks later and run high 11's, low 12s. The Cobra definetly has the upper hand with a good driver. The appeal of them to me is the ability to go fast cheaply with a pulley, exhaust and tune. But stock for stock the win goes to the Cobra.

I have beat a couple of colbra's new and old, and i have also been beaten by a couple new and old. i'v raced quit a few of em. They are fast cars, it just makes you apriciate it more when you beat one.

But we are talkin about the 03/04 Cobras... they are really fast. But another: If we would put in a S/C (www.stspower.com) or something else we would spend the same money they do... but after that: is a LS1 faster?

I was debating on getting another Terminator, truly one of the best cars I have owned, minus the stock shifter linkage.
But since I only had one year in school left, I went with the F-body. It was about 7-8k cheaper, and figured I'll just drive this till I graduate then buy what I want.
I always wanted a C5 Z06, so I think I will go that route.
So do I have regrets not buying the Cobra yet again? Yes, absolutely. But then I think about the money I am saving and getting one step closer to a C5 Z06
Btw: I bought my 03 Cobra new for 28k as well. Too bad I got screwed out of it, and got stuck with a mach 1.
Which was fun, but it was no cobra.

Im in the same boat. I am looking at getting a 00 SS vert camaro 6spd or an 03 vert cobra stang. The camaro is $14K and the stang is $24K. So hard to make the decision I wish I had the cash to get both.
