Default 02 SS vs. 03 Ford Cobra

Hi guys

can a stock 02 Camaro SS (maybe with the SLP Option) or a 02 WS6 beat a stock 03 Ford Cobra?? Both M6 and stock.

Equal drivers? No (the SLP option does nothing for power really, the Blackwing Lid helps a little, but thats it)

My Stock SS < 04 Cobra Had about a car on me with 500 miles on it!
So unless you have a horrible ford driver or a car that is a freak you will prolly lose, when in doubt 20 roll him

With Longtubes on my SS 2-3 cars from a 20,30 and 40 roll

Damn! these Cobras must be awesome cars... but with which mods can a SS or maybe a WS6 beat a Cobra?

What is "from roll" ??

From a "roll" means starting a race after your already moveing (for instance, you could line your cars up on the highway going 60mph then honk the horn to start the race). This is a good idea for cars that have good top-end power but crappy traction.

As for mods to beat a cobra...

1. Intake, exhaust, headers, gears, tires.
2. Intake, exhaust, headers, cam.
3. 100 shot of nitros.
4. F/I (Supercharger or turbo)

i ran one about a week ago and we were basically even. All i have on my car is headers, true duals, airlid, and an LS6 intake and since my car is a vert (which is a lil heavier then a coupe) and i am on 18's with subs in the trunk I am sure yur car would beat one with the same mods considering my car is probably quite a bit heavier

Well obviously its gonna depend on exactly what you buy and if you do the work yourself or pay someone else to do it, but heres some SWAG (Scientific Wild *** Guess):

1. $1,000-1,500
2. $2,000-3,000
3. $750-1,500
4. $3,000-10,000 (all depends on just how big you want to go)

Nitros is your "bang-for-the-buck" leader to be sure, but it has plenty of drawbacks. Going with just bolt-ons (1) will get you enough power to edge out a stock cobra... good luck finding one thats still stock.

If you really want to have an edge on the cobras you'll need to at least put a cam in the car, thats what I did.

I think you guys are giving cobras too much credit. Their independent rear suspension is a huge draw back. (Allowing 400 hp to cut 2.2 sec 60' ) Even if i had the choice I'd still stick with my LS1. (Chevy don't need a blower to haul *** )

I would go with 1 & 2. Because here in Switzerland we do not have this options you have in the states. It's expensive and laws are tighter than a virigin. Put a Blower or Turbos on the car is not allowed.

Actually, you're not giving them enough. Equal drivers in each car and the win goes to the Cobra hands down. And once you start modding the Cobra, the LS1 really doesn't stand much of a chance.

I have to agree that finding a stock cobra is going to be very very difficult these days. They've been out long enough that most carry at least 450hp with the majority being 500hp or better to the tire. Then there are some still that carry 700 to the tire or better...

You are going to need some serious work in order to hang with a cobra with someone who can drive the car. Most mild bolt on cobras should be in the mid to upper 11's (read, 450hp can get you there with a tire) and those with 500hp can dip low 11's to mid 11's with ease and in some rare cases very high 10's. The cars with 700 or better are a mixed bag and can go low 11's to mid 9's at over 146mph. Just depends on what you run into. The cars are quickly becoming just like a grand national. You never know what you are getting into with the cobra's anymore.
