[QUOTE=jimmy 2 Times]if you dont mind me asking, how much did they offer you for your car? what is your buyback? ANd how many miles?

The insurance company is going to give me 18,250 for the car and im ganna buy it back for 3500 with still a clean title . so now i am taking the motor and tranny out and im parting out the rest of the car. let me know if you want something. the only thing wrong is driverside door fender quarter panel. 1 wheel is bad and hood is damaged in one little 2 inch spot, and the crossmember and arms are bent, and rearend is bent everything else if fine.

if you buy it back from the insurance, it will not be a clean title, it will be a salvage/rebuildable title

btw, how many miles on yours?

not a safety hazzard to rebuild but drive. unless it varies froms state tos tate. also a good rule of thumb on judging if a car will be totalled is this.

do the damage repairs exceed 75% of the cars value? if so then they will probably totall it

I talked to USAA today and they offered me 10227.28 for the car. (before 500 deduct.)If I keep the car they will give me only 8088.85 for payoff. Subtract those #'s and you get $2138.43 for the totalled car. They didnt add in that I had 48000 miles on it and the collision shop has to take an odometer reading and USAA quoted that an extra 800-1000 dollors on the total value. Im gonna pull the Engine, Tranny & wheels for sure. I may actually put it all towards my 87 Firebird I recently acquired for 500 dollars.

Car Value 10227.28
Buy it back 2138.43
for loan 8088.85

In PA, if the insurance company pays out, they take the car. If you buy it back, you have to go to the DMV and get a salvage title before they pay you. So unfortuantley mine will have a PA rebuildable title

Default Sorry to hear about your SS....

First off, just wanted to say sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what I'd do if it were my SS. I'm glad to hear you aren't hurt and even more glad you seem to have made out ok on the whole thing, all things considered.

Not trying to be llike a shark with blood in the water or anything, but since you mentioned you'd be parting out your car, I'm interested in the Hotchkis strut tower brace and the driver's side rear taillight. I'd like to make you an offer we can each be happy with. Send me a message if you're interested in selling these parts. Thanks in advance and good luck with everything...

Mine had 75k miles on it when I totalled it. State Farm gave me $12k with a buy back of $1400. So I got my car and $10600. Paid off car and fixed it back up.

Truly a bummer. Sorry for your loss.

I almost did something like that in my sister's Mustang one day. I felt myself losing it and slammed on the brakes and rode it to a stop......six inches away from a center punch on a light pole!!!! The Gods were with me that day. Hope they come back to you next time.

i am still fighting my insurance company. They are now offering me 18k with a 2875 buy back. Should I take it, or should i hire an appraiser and try to get more money. The only problem with the appraisl is that I hire 1, state farm hires 1, and we split the cost of a third appraiser. They then average the 3 prices.

SO even though I can get lucky, I can really get screwed if it is lower than what they are offering me now. And i will have to pay for an apprasier (275 for one, and split the cost of the third)

What should i do?

depending how bad the car is, i would say take the 18,000 thats prety good depending on howmany miles on the car what year it is and if its an ss or not, and you could buy it back and rebuild it

That really sucks, bud. I really hope it all works out for you in the end. Of course, the most important thing is that you are alright.
