So I was down in Central Cali for business again when I was walking back from a meeting and I noticed this bright red Camaro sitting in the parking lot. It had a small sign on the back window reading "For Sale". I've been in the market for another RWD toy since I sold my last LS1 z28 in March. I walked over to the window to read the price expecting 8-12 if its an A4, and 10-14 if its a 6-speed. After taking a peek in the drivers window to make sure it was a 6-speed (I just need one for comfort, A4 just wasn't for me) I then got interested.
The tag on the back read the following "1998 Camaro Z28, M6, Completely stock, lots of new parts, 88k". I then assume it was de-modded to be sold simply because the wheels were factory, but they sported brand new falkens. I didn't notice any rubber build up in the rear wheel wells, the guy must have cleaned them good, because theres no way that clutch hasn't been dumped at least once.
Grey Cloth interior (I ******* HATE the leather). Sounds like a perfect stripper for me.
So the price? The sign said $6500 obo! For ***** sake, I sold my montgomery maroon mettalic A4 camaro for 8k cash. The stereo was a shitty monsoon, the seats were JUST starting to rip (leather), and it seemed to leak oil in a new spot just after I fixed the previous problem. It also had bad clearcoat, a small indent on the front pass side bumper, and a knarley scratch by the fuel door.
I called the guy yesterday to set up a time to meet and test drive the bright red z28. I'm really looking forward to it. I'm going to the bank tomorrow to make sure I can get the loan (don't see why I shouldn't I have perfect credit). This car is worth it IMO. He also said that the car was bought by his girlfriends mother, then he girlfriend aquired the vehical as a hand me down, and then he bought it off of her. he said as far as he knew, it was never modified, and never raced (mid 30's guy).
What do you guys think? I shouldn't even hesitate, should I?

I will inquire about the new parts when I call him tomorrow after I go to the bank. I assume its not going to be anything major mostly because of the history of the car.
As for pictures, oh I got lots, but this isn't the thread for em, I'll PM some to you.

I guess red z28's arn't worth as much!
Well its pretty obvious. I already went to the bank, got quotes on insurence. Everything is just about set in stone. I tried to call the owner tonight, but he works the nightshift. I will have to call him tomorrow afternoon....
its going to be so damn nice to have a Z28 again...

Congrats on your new acquisition.
When we purchased our 1998 Z28 (hardtop A4), we got it for $6300 but from Florida. It was cheaper to get it over there then here. Comparable Z28s out here were going for over $10K. Nice find.
