Default Sad sounding Camaro

I was driving home from work the other day. I hear this car coming up on me fast then it just drives next to me for a while. I could smell it too. I finally look over and there's 3 guys in a '69 Camaro all staring at me. Then they pull forward and get in front of me.. They kept turning there heads and looking at me and waving.. The car didn't look to bad but it was blowing some major smoke out of the exhaust, it had a horrible smell and a loud ticking and clanking noise. The kind of noise where you can just tell it's not normal.. They were trying to flirt with me, but I felt kinda bad for them... I would be embarrased to be seen in that car.. Well as long as it was running anyways. If it was off and parked you probably couldn't tell there was anything wrong with it.... I wanted to stop them and ask if I could fix there car for them... It was sad..

lol.. sadly there are lots of rolling piece of crap cars out there with just as stupid people driving them.. reminds me of a neighbor down the street from me. He has a **** brown 76 Camaro its slow and sounds horrible. He claimed his Camaro was a 12 sec 1/4 mile car because of the headers and exhust he put on and talked soo much crap about old cars being faster and how his car would easily beat mine. lol! Well I shut him up at the track when my car ran 12's every run, all day long.. his Piece never ran faster than a 15.50 lol!

i know how you feel.. it's sad to see cars that were badass in their day to be chugging along with lifters ticking, spewing smoke, and sagging badly. i never drove my car until I knew that it was not only running great, but looking good while doing it... when i see something sad like that, this always cheers me up..

Sadly, that 69 camaro could be worth more than the new cars it smoking past. I remember when my buddy bought his 69 conv. back in high school. It could clear the neighborhood of every last mosquito.

I would love to have an older one, but would never drive it in that condition. Even though sometimes a whole new engine would be cheaper than most fixes. My step-mom for example, that's how she met my dad. He had to put new engines in her car twice. It would have cost her more to fix it than it was for the engines. Granted one of those times she cracked her engine block so she had no choice but still. But a lot probably are worth more. I see completely restored T-birds selling for $45k. I'm sure a Camaro can do something like that.

Yep, restored camaros are fetching good money. If you find one in utah for a good price you might want to purchase it...... Could be one hell of a 401K

eeeeek. i see this 72ish firebird rollin around town all the time. its all beat up, about four different colors of primar and rattle cans. it spits smoke like mad and i dont think it has one matchin wheel. the crazy part is that there are ALWAYS like four guys in it and the same scraggly *** guy drivin. for some reason he always wants to race me. i must see this guy like two times a week. would be a bad *** ride if someone gave it some TLC. i wish i had body work skills. it would be on hell of a project to restore a camaro. i see those things goin for stupid-crazy amounts of cash on that auction show.

Yeah.. I would love to restore one. I found a '77 Firebird when I was lookin for my car. I would have bought it if it ran. I needed a car to drive, that's how I got my camaro.. If it was still for sale and I had money I would buy it to fix it up... A 2nd gen Bird is my dream car.

2nd gens are nice. I grew up racing in a 70' camaro. One buddy had the convertible, two others had 70's, and I had the tan 4 door buick...

The 70 camaro didn't look as good as that when my friend bought it. He was a die hard 69/70 mustang fastback guy but then one day he told me "My dad bought me a 70' ". I thought he meant a ford. I was wrong. We spent all summer (Texas) inside the thing sanding the surface rust and painting. The outside is still primered today. Your camaro looks pretty complete to me. Where do you live?

I know, I was refering to the 70 model we worked on when I was a freshman. It didn't need as much work as your car but it was completely stripped. I have 2 69's.
